Everyone has their own special chili recipe. And normally we all think ours is the best. White chili, spicy chili, Texas chili, vegetarian chili - this possibilities are endless. This is why I love a chili cook-off.
Last year we found out about the Annual Chili Cook-Off for Autism. It's a fundraiser for the Autism Society of Greater Cleveland. We attended last year and couldn't wait to go again. It's so much fun trying all the different kinds of chili and it's for a great cause.
The main ballroom at the Holiday Inn in Independence was full of a mix of professional and amateur chefs hoping to take home bragging rights.
The event is so popular that it was crazy crowded. And loud. Here are a few pictures I managed to take:
My favorite chili of the night |
My 2nd and 3rd places - firefighters vs Ahuja |
Serving cornbread gives you bonus points in my book |
So does offering toppings like corn chips, cheese, fresh cilantro, and sour cream |
It's a messy job but someone has to do it! |
The Ace Molar Band provided entertainment. With Todd Meany from Fox 8 as the front man, they were really rockin'! It was the perfect excuse to dance off some of that chili.
This event is really fun, affordable and for a great cause. Check it out next year!
