Eat*Drink*Cleveland

A hungry girl's adventures in Cleveland and beyond.

Flying Cranes ~ Larchmere

A recent Sunday found me in the mood to explore. The hubby was out of town so a friend and I headed to Larchmere for brunch and some shopping.

I kept hearing about Flying Cranes Cafe and wanted to check it out. They have been in business since 2007 so I was long past due for a visit. In addition to serving Japanese noodle and rice dishes, they offer soups, sandwiches, salads, hot pots, quiches, brunch and high tea. That tea is definitely on my Must Do list.

We decided to try the Full Course Brunch:
  • coffee or tea
  • soup
  • breakfast entree
  • toast
  • fresh fruit
  • dessert
On the website it's listed at $11.50. In reality it was $14 - still a great deal.

We chose the carrot ginger soup and aside from it being served lukewarm, it was delicious. Smooth, slightly sweet and with a hint of ginger it was a great way to start off the meal.
We were pleasantly surprised by the fresh fruit because January in Ohio isn't known for melons and berries. They were out of season but delicious.

I had the broccoli quiche and salad with their homemade ginger dressing. I can see why they sell bottles of the dressing - it's delicious.

Our dessert was a choice between chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin cookies. The chocolate chip was good but the oatmeal blew it away.

Afterwards, we decided to walk around because it was actually sunny and not 10 below.
We spent literally hours exploring Loganberry Books. This independently owned book store is a real gem. Everything from best sellers to first editions, cards, games and toys. You can like them on Facebook for news, events and discounts too.

With the weather looking better these days, you can easily check out the other cute shops and stores in the area and make a day of it.
